A Note To Our Readers
We began putting our first edition of SPANN together before the COVID-19 pandemic. As we got closer to press time, we realized that some things discussed in this issue will likely be affected by our current situation, such as businesses/restaurants/rec centres being closed, and events being cancelled or postponed. We decided to go ahead with publishing the paper as a way to keep community members connected and feeling less isolated. We will be publishing updates and news on our website and social media. Here at our website you can subscribe to our free e-newsletter delivered straight to your inbox with print edition highlights, web exclusive features, and other community updates. If you use social media, be sure to like us on Facebook (@spannjasperplace), and follow us on Twitter (@thespannjp) and Instagram (@spannjasperplace) for updates as well.

We would also love to hear how people in the neighbourhoods we reach are coping with changes to our lifestyles during this unusual and difficult time, like working from home, having the kids home from school, and things you’re doing to spend your days while practising social distancing. We will post some stories on our website, and print them in our next issue. You can contact us at spanneditor@gmail.com. We hope you are keeping safe and well.
